About Me

I have been tutoring students for as I like to say 'Two Centuries'!
I originally fell in love with the sciences in College after taking a Biology and Organic Chemistry class from 2 amazing professors who were so exciting and motivational that they instilled a life long passion for the sciences in me and inspired me to double major in Biology and Chemistry!
After having been so impacted by these amazing teachers, I made it my 'life's work' to teach and explain Biology and Chemistry to my students with the same enthusiasm and motivation.
Many of my students came to me telling me that they were never good in Math or Science and they never expected this to change but after a few months of working with them many of them have gone on to EXCEL in these fields!
My passion for the sciences gives me ability to help students understand their class not only by explaining and teaching but also by sharing my 'Silly Ways To Remember' the most difficult concepts that I have been using and improving over the past 20 years.

About Me

I am currently a teacher at East Aurora High School with an emphasis on math. I spent 11 years at Morton East HS, 2 years at Batavia HS, 13 years at Romeoville HS, and 1 year at St. Joseph HS. I have been privately tutoring subjects ranging from 6th grade through Pre-Calculus and College Algebra (Including Foundations for Math 1, Math 1, 2, 3 (All Levels)) for over 6 years. I live in Naperville with my wife of 22 years, my daughter who is a junior at Augustana College, my older son who is a freshman at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and another son who is a junior at Naperville North. Before March 2020, I was tutoring completely in-person at a library or students' homes. The pandemic created a situation in which I needed to tutor remotely. Now, in-person students prefer our convenient, in-depth, and successful remote sessions for the following reasons: 1. Students can learn from the comfort of their own home. This is especially convenient when transportation and/or weather issues occur. 2. Through the use of Zoom, I can share my work real-time with students just as if I were sitting next to them at a library without social distancing, mask/immunization requirements, and noise restrictions! 3. I also record sessions with audio and video using Screencastify! Students receive everything they would as if we met in-person! 4. Students/parents can schedule an online session without the worry of getting to the library. 5. A student to teacher ratio of 1 to 1 or Small group to 1 tutor instead of the 25 or 30 students to 1 teacher ratio as it was during the pandemic! 6. I am a teacher first! When I receive students' work electronically ahead of time, I go to work planning what and how I will teach the concept(s). Our goal is to understand the material, not just complete a homework assignment! 7. A Google Folder is created for each student for sharing homework and session notes. I also share my own resources and other students' session notes that are taking the same course(s)!

About Me

I specialize in tutoring AP Biology and Math students in the Hinsdale, IL area. I have been tutoring ever since I was in college. During this time, I helped students succeed as a lab TA and also helped other students succeed in classes such as biochemistry. I love learning and helping empowering others understand complex material by breaking it down and making it simpler.
After college, I worked at a national tutoring franchise chain. Initially, I was a tutor, but I was eventually promoting to director status and helped train other teachers to be more effective in helping students succeed. After doing this for a couple of years, I worked in a martial arts school and helped students there succeed in learning physical techniques.
I've worked with students full time in the tutoring field after departing from the position in martial arts for close over 7 years. I look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your goals with my specialty in AP Biology and Regular Biology in the Hinsdale, IL area.

About Me

I've been a technical leader in mobile phone design and now medical devices for about 30 years. Problem solving is what I am best at. Moreover, I have great empathy. I will build your confidence by setting you up to incrementally build competence and having successes continuously - little ones at first, but constantly building towards complete fluency.
I am infinitely patient, if you want to try another problem, I'll always stay with you until it's done. And I know how to play the game, I will provide you with practical organization and structured approaches to get the grade you will have earned by earnestly working with me.
Anecdote: As a sophomore at Notre Dame, I tutored Calculus for the Math Dept. In September, I started with 5-6 students, who failed their first exam. They all passed the course and by the final, my tutoring sessions were standing room only - they were sitting on window sills and radiators !!! Word gets around.

About Me

I love to teach! I firmly believe that all students can learn and can also enjoy learning. I know that developing self confidence and self esteem are key to understanding new ideas and concepts. More importantly, when students believe in themselves, they are more relaxed and open which allows them to learn more easily. No student should feel afraid or stressed. I teach students how to study, how to take effective notes, how to review and to use many learning 'tricks' that will empower them. When I teach, I always emphasize the transferability of new techniques and approaches to my students' other classes. Learning is cross curricular and lasts forever!

I began to learn French when I was in third grade, and I dreamed of living in France. I learned early on that language and culture are inseparable. Thus my beginnings as a lover of languages and cultures were launched. I lived in France for three years where I taught English and American Social Studies to French high schoolers and university students. I then realized that Spanish was becoming more prevalent here in the USA, and hence I spent three summers studying and traveling in Mexico and Spain. I have trained World Language teachers here in the USA, in Canada, in France and in Ivory Coast. I have created dynamic curriculum for students of all levels. As a national and regional consultant, I have presented workshops in English, Spanish and French here and abroad. I have organized and led student trips to France, Quebec, Ivory Coast and Japan. I love to share my energy, enthusiasm and cultural openness with my students. Creating a desire to learn and an ever-growing feeling of self-worth for my students is essential!

I have also been the Director of Public and Cultural Affairs for the Government of Quebec for the Midwest (twelve states, Quebec and Ottawa) where I was responsible for dossiers on education, the environment, politics, media and the arts. I love to share these experiences with my students so that they, too, can 'dream big' as they think about their own career choices. I currently teach ESL to adult immigrants and teach French and Spanish to adults privately.

Our students can understand other languages and cultures to make their ever-shrinking world a healthier, more open, kinder place to live.

About Me

I currently work in the field of biotechnology with hopes of going to medical school one day. I have been tutoring students for 6 years! I was a general chemistry and organic chemistry teaching assistant as well as a biology tutor.
My passion for the sciences has been strong for many years. I was an intern at the museum of science and industry where I would teach visitors how to build their own nightlights used knowledge about circuitry. I would also spend a lot of time after school with teachers to gain extra knowledge about certain content areas.
I also have been working with many different medical professionals and physicians for many years. I have previously worked at Massachusetts General Hospital and Mayo Clinic in their Oncology departments
I also am a published author in medical journals and have a very strong scientific method background.
My main mission is to have students have a similar level of enthusiasm and excitement for the sciences or any area of academia they find interesting. If there are content areas that may seem dull, I will definitely be able to apply real life examples to make them interesting and engaging. I have helped plenty of students increase their performance on exams significantly and that is including the ACT as well! I use a tailored method towards each student and cater to their learning style to make sure that content is being understood and can be applied on an exam with ease.
